Ms. Qu, originally from Shenyang, China, is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in piano performance at the University of North Texas under the guidance of Dr. Pamela Mia Paul. In 2023, Miss Qu has been awarded a special scholarship to be part of a trio funded by the Verdehr Trio Foundation.
With a strong focus on nurturing children’s piano education, Qu firmly believes in the importance of piano pedagogy, especially for beginners. She is dedicated to establishing a solid foundation in piano fundamentals to support students in their future learning endeavors. In her teaching approach, Qu emphasizes not only piano skills and techniques but also instilling an appreciation for the artistic aspects of music. She aims to guide students in discovering the beauty and allure of their musical journey as they progress through different levels.
Qu began studying piano at the age of 4 and later attended the middle school of Shenyang Conservatory in China with an Honor Students scholarship at the age of 11. She received her Bachelor’s degree at the University of North Texas and her Master’s degree at Carnegie Mellon University. Both degrees were supported be scholarships or fellowships. Throughout her studies, Qu gained teaching experience working at the prep school at CMU, instructing students at various levels.
In addition to her academic pursuits, Qu has received awards in piano competitions, including prizes in the Pearl River Kayserburge International Youth Piano Competition and YAMAHA Scholarship Concerto and Solo Competitions. She has also participated in music festivals in the United States and Italy. Qu has performed on concert stages around the world, showcasing her artistry in countries such as China, South Korea, Italy, Germany, and the United States.
